Yau Ma Tei, formerly named Waterloo after Waterloo Road, is an MTR station located in Yau Ma Tei, Kowloon. It is the western terminus of the HK-MTR lines|Kwun Tong, and is also located on the HK-MTR lines|Tsuen Wan.

Yau Ma Tei is an interchange station, yet it is used less frequently for this purpose than nearby Mong Kok station since the platforms are not designed for cross-platform interchange. The Kwun Tong Line platforms are thus beneficial mostly to local travellers. This station is used by many students during commuting hours, since it is in the vicinity of many large schools.

The station's livery colour is grey, with red, white, and blue stripes representing the colors on French national flag. The stripes, however, are being removed as part of current renovation works as of October 2005. Helvetica, the original typeface used in station name signs, is also being replaced by Myriad under the scheme.

tation layout

It is more convenient for passengers on the Tsuen Wan Line to change to the Kwun Tong Line in Mong Kok. So when Tsuen Wan Line trains approach Yau Ma Tei, the public address system will not mention Yau Ma Tei as an interchange station to the Kwun Tong Line. Passengers who board the Kwun Tong Line trains in Yau Ma Tei are usually people who entered this station from the street in the first place. As part of the Shatin-Central Link, it is planned that the Kwun Tong Line will be extended towards the Whampoa Gardens via Ho Man Tin.
