Littlehampton Redoubt

Littlehampton Redoubt was built to protect the entrance to the River Arun at Littlehampton on the south coast of England. A 7“ gun battery was built on theEast bank perpendicular to the river in the 1750's, with guns both facingup the river and out to sea. There seems to be a small roller-coaster builton it now. A small pentagonal fort with 5 guns was built on the Westbank in 1854. The site, though fenced off, is viewable from a dune pathwith a plaque giving historical details. Heavily overgrown, the mostobvious feature of the fort is a Carnot wall.
