Leading University is the first Government approved private university of
Sylhet . This institution was founded by renownedphilanthropist Mr. Ragib Ali. He is also apioneer in establishing the first private university in BangladeshNorth South University . He proposed to the Ministry of education for establishing Leading university on24 August 1996 . After that, LU wasinaugurated on4 March ,2002 . The university started its first semester with 106undergraduate students.Academic programmes

The university has three semesters available in a year, Spring Semester (starts in January), Summer Semester (starts in April),
Fall Semester (starts in October). The duration of each semester is thirteen weeks.Extracurricular activities
