"Sandy" is the second solo album by Sandy Denny, recorded in 1972 after her three albums with Fairport Convention, and one album with Fotheringay. Parts of the album have more of a country rock sound than her previous recordings, and includes eight tracks written by Denny herself. The guest musicians include Fairport Convention coleagues Richard Thompson and Dave Swarbrick, as well as Sneaky Pete Kleinow (of Flying Burrito Brothers fame) on steel guitar. The album was produced by bandmate and future husband Trevor Lucas.

The album came in a gatefold sleeve featuring on its front a photograph by David Bailey, the interior featuring handwritten lyrics of the songs (bordered by flowers), with the tracklisting and credits on the rear.
