Fort William FC [http://www.fortwilliamfc.co.uk] is a senior football team from Fort William, Lochaber, Scotland. They play in the Highland Football League.

Current Squad

The club was founded in 1984 and joined the Highland League for the 1985-86 season. They have never finished in the top half of the league, and have finished bottom on 10 occasions. Their ground is Claggan Park, which has a capacity of 4,000, and a record attendance of 1,500 (4th April 1986).

As a senior team, [http://www.fortwilliamfc.co.uk] Fort William FC are eligible to enter the Scottish Cup.

Directions to the ground

From the South approaching the town on the A82 go directly to the town. After 2 roundabouts continue past the Railway Station on the left, after half a mile cross the river nevis, take the first right into Claggan Road and the ground is then half a mile down the road from there.

Football Vs. Shinty

Despite football's popularity in Scotland, the sport of shinty is more popular in Fort William, the town being home to Fort William Shinty Club, present Scottish Champions, and Kilmallie, Camanachd Cup Finalists 2005. The football club struggles to find players as a result of shinty's popularity. The club have been forced to sign players in their early teens and with a squad of only 16 players in 2007-2008 season, the club suffered 27 defeats from 28 Highland League matches, running up an extraordinary goal difference of -142. Can they survive?

The future certainly looks brighter than it did last season. American Entertainment company PMAC Tonight, headed up by Paul MacDonald, plan to create a reality TV series [http://www.americasteamfc.com ] around the team. "From Worst to First" is the plan for Paul, and to help him achieve this he plans to import some of the best young American talent on college campuses across the USA. The show is due to run from the start of season 2008 - 2009 so the current squad [http://www.aboutlochaber.com/FWFC/Squad.aspx] will need to work hard if they want to be considered for next season.
