MAXX Blue (livery)

MAXX Blue (livery)

MAXX blue is the public transport brand name and the livery used on trains, buses and ferries operated for the Auckland Regional Transport Authority (ARTA).

Trains

Auckland's trains are operated by Veolia. Carriages are light grey or silver with a blue band along the windows. Driving cabs are blue and 'safety' yellow. Locomotives are blue with yellow ends and cabs.

Buses

Most buses in Auclland operate under their operators' livery and brand with small MAXX stickers near the front entrance, but high-speed buses on the Northern Busway use the MAXX brand.

Name

Contrary to popular belief, the name MAXX is not an acronym.

"MAXX does stand for something. MAXX stands for comfortable and attractive facilities for commuters; fast, frequent and more reliable transport services; and comprehensive transport information. MAXX is not another acronym, but a symbol of quality."( [http://www.arta.co.nz/xxarta/news/media_releasexx.cfm?entryID=2AA0550B-BCD4-1A24-9725-351BC31EB73A MAXX launch press release.] )
