The Football Association of Kuala Lumpur enters a team in Malaysian football competitions. The team currently plays in the second tier of Malaysian football, the Malaysian Premier League.

The team were the Malaysian league champions twice in 1986 and 1988, won the Malaysia Cup three for consecutive years in 1987, 1988 and 1989, and captured the Malaysian FA Cup three times in 1993, 1994 and 1999. However they have been less successful in recent years, having spent the last six seasons in the second tier of the Malaysian league football structure.

From 1974 to 1985, the team was known as ""Wilayah Persekutuan", which means "Federal Territory" in Malay.
