IBM System Storage

IBM System Storage (formerly IBM TotalStorage) is the brand name for IBM's computer storage products, covering both Disk and Tape products.

The DS3000 products are made for IBM by LSI

** 3Gbit SAS single or dual-controller for direct host attachment (up to 6 hosts)
** 2U enclosure with 12 SAS or SATA drive bays

** 4Gbit FC single or dual-controller with 4 host ports
** 2U enclosure with 12 SAS or SATA drive bays
** can use up to 48 drives using EXP3000

** 3Gbit SAS expansion drawer for direct host, DS3200 or DS3400 attachment
** 2U enclosure with 12 SAS or SATA drive bays

DS4000 Series

The DS4000 products are made for IBM by LSI

** 4Gbit FC dual-controller with 4 host ports and 4 drive ports
** 3U enclosure with 16 SATA drive bays
** can contain up to 112 drives using six EXP420 expansion units
* DS4700
** 4Gbit FC dual-controller with 4 or 8 host ports and 4 drive ports
** 3U enclosure with 16 Fibre Channel drive bays
** can contain up to 112 drives using EXP100, EXP710 or EXP810 expansion units, mixing allowed
** drives can be Fibre Channel or SATA
* DS4800
** 4Gbit FC dual-controller with 8 host ports and 8 drive ports
** 4U enclosure (no internal drive bays)
** can contain up to 224 drives using EXP100, EXP710 or EXP810 expansion units, mixing allowed

DS8000 Series

Enterprise storage, supporting FC, FICON and ESCON host connectivity

** two 2-way POWER5+ controllers
** can contain up to 384 drives
** drives can be Fibre Channel or SATA
* DS8300
** two 4-way POWER5+ controllers (based on p570 servers)
** can contain up to 1024 drives
** drives can be Fibre Channel or SATA

DCS9550

Disk storage system targeting HPC workloads. It is based on the DataDirect Networks S2A9550

N Series

The N Series is a Network attached storage (NAS) and iSCSI product. It is based on the NetApp V-Series.

* TS2230 - half-height, single slot LTO-3
* TS2340 - single slot LTO-4 (equivalent to old 3580 library)

* TS3100 - one or two LTO-3 or LTO-4 drive library (24 cartridges)
* TS3200 - one or two LTO-3 or LTO-4 drive library (48 cartridges)
* TS3310 - expandable library with up to six LTO-3 or LTO-4 drives (122 cartridges with expansion module)
* TS3400 - one or two TS1120 drive library (18 cartridges)
* TS3500 - ultrascalable tape library with LTO or TS1120 drives (up to 16 frames, 192 drives and 6887 cartridges dependent on format)

* TS7510 / TS7520 - virtualization engines (virtual tape libraries) for Open Systems
* TS7700 - virtualization engine (virtual tape library) for System z (mainframe)
