Diomedes (Thracian king)

King Diomedes (Διομήδης) of Thrace was a giant, the son of Ares and Cyrene. [Apollodorus. "Library and Epitome". [http://www.perseus.tufts.edu/cgi-bin/ptext?lookup=Apollod.+2.5.8 2.5.8] .] He lived on the shores of the Black Sea ruling the warlike tribe of Bistones. "The Fall of Troy", [http://classics.mit.edu/Quintus/ftroy.6.vi.html Book VI] .] which Heracles stole in order to complete the eighth of his Twelve Labours, slaying Diomedes in the process.
