Track & Field Athlete of the Year

The Track & Field Athlete of the Year Award is an annual prize handed out to athletes participating in track and field competitions. The election is organised by the highly rated sports magazine "Track & Field News" since 1959 on the men's side, and among the women since 1974. In general, the men's choices have been dominated by distance runners, the women's, by sprinters. A panel of international track and field experts selects the winners.
