Real is a European hypermarket, member of the German trade and retail giant Metro Group.

In 2006 Metro acquired Wal-Mart's 85 stores in Germany [ [http://www.dw-world.de/dw/article/0,2144,2112746,00.html World's Biggest Retailer Wal-Mart Closes Up Shop in Germany] ] and in Poland, bought 26 hypermarkets Géant from the French retail group Groupe Casino.
