Baseball League

A fine league.

History

In the residential area of Western Crystal Tree a yard measuring roughly 75x50 feet had long remained unused since Crystal Tree's founding in the late 1980's. It was the very spot where baseball historians believe John Humphrey set up Orland Park Feild, for the Orland Park Magic: a former American/Indian League minor league affiliate team (It now is the name of a youth travel team in the area.) When the AIL was dissolved in 1907 due to racial tension, the MLB purchased the site for $36.55 [www.baseballgreathistory.com/feed/ct,0145675229] as an alternative site for the regional rookie ball league all-star game, and temporary stadium for the Joliet Braves. Legend has it that Joe DiMaggio hit two home runs during a game versus the Braves at the age of 12. However, this can not be definatively confirmed, nor denied, nor confirmed. The MLB officially discontinued use of the site in 1913 and sold the land back to the village of Orland Park.

In 1999 during the economic boom of Crystal Tree a few young boys began using the feild as a makeshift football feild. They quickly realized, however, the shape of the feild in coordination with road made a perfect baseball diamond. Also, the arrangement of the trees and homes provided perfect foul lines. They rounded the neighborhood boys and the Crystal Tree Baseball League was formed. Games were intense and physical, often extra inning affairs. In 2003, naming rights to the feild were put on the line for the annual all-star game. Joe and Will won, forever deeming the feild the "Keuper Arena." From 1999 to 2008 the league has sinced produced some of the finest players in the history of the game. Unfortunately, to be elligability rules state that all players must be legal residents of Crystal Tree, and with the onset of college many players will soon become academically inelligable (One can not play while attending a school outside of Orland Park). Therefore, the CTBL has announced the league will suspend play beginning September 1st, 2008.

One final All-Star game is planned for August 2nd, 2008. It will be covered by all major television stations and is projected to be the highest grossing sports event of modern history. The feild will then be suspended, however construction is undergoing on a new stadium in New York, NY, with reconfigured rules allowing former members to participate in a new baseball league in their adult years. The stadium will be called (New) Yankee Stadium.

Notable Events

On June 22nd, 2003 Joe was pitching to Blake, when an old lady living near buy ran out on to the feild demanding they do not hit her home. She was assured nothing would hit her home and escorted off the feild. The next pitch a ball was smashed through the window.

August 3rd, 2003: Will hits a towering home run over a home. It has been confirmed as the farthest ball ever hit in the history of baseball

July 14th, 2004: Jeff is weird and drives his car on to the feild in a possible murder attempt.

July 18th, 2004: Horrifying Brian, a one and a half armed boy singles to center.

July 31st, 2004: Dave becomes the first player in the history of the league to charge the mound with the bat, but soon retreats in the face of will, dropping the bat.
