Qubad was raised in
United Kingdom in exile by his grandparents, in a home filled with Kurdish intellectuals and political activists. Qubad tried to avoid Kurdish politics, instead working as a mechanic on cars. After graduating from Britain’s Surrey University in 2000 with a degree in automobile engineering, he turned away from the automotive industry.
