Weiss was born in a Polish family in
Bukovina to Stanisław Weiss and Maria Kopaczyńska. He gave up music training to study art at theAcademy of Fine Arts in Kraków underLeon Wyczółkowski . Weiss originally painted historical or mythological paintings, but later switched toExpressionism after being profoundly influenced byStanisław Przybyszewski . Weiss later became a member of theVienna Secession . He was one of the first PolishArt Nouveau poster designers. Near the end of his life, he made several significantSocialist Realism paintings.External links
