Camp Courageous (Ohio)

Camp Courageous (Ohio)

Camp Courageous is a summer camp facility located in Whitehouse, Ohio. The main purpose of the program is to foster socialization, independence, and a better life to children and teens who have various disabilities.

History

This camp was founded in the 1960s by Marty Duncan and Ray DeFrane, who wanted their disabled children to have a chance to experience an overnight camp. When no other camp in Ohio would accept their children, Camp Courageous broke ground and opened for business. At first, it has offered 2 week summer programs, but to this day, it has expanded to 11 weeks. It has also provided respites for the early and mid Fall seasons.
