Lee's Sandwiches is an American fast food restaurant chain specializing in Vietnamese cuisine. While originally famous for selling banh mi (Vietnamese sandwiches), the chain has expanded its offering to many other goods, including packaged spring rolls, desserts, and other food to go items. It has many different banh mi and smoothie selections. The chain's Vietnamese-style sandwiches use French baguette bread.

History

Lee's Sandwiches was started by the Le Family in San Jose, CA after immigrating from Vietnam in the 1980s. Originally working from a catering truck, they opened its first store in San Jose, California in the 1980s and eventually expanded its stores to many other cities in California. In the 2000s, the company expanded into Arizona, Texas and Oklahoma, where locations can be found in areas with significant Vietnamese-American populations. The company has plans to expand in the Pacific states of Nevada, Oregon, and Washington.

Some of the larger restaurants or those in areas of significant Vietnamese-American population, have a small market within the restaurant selling numerous high-end or imported French cookies or sweets in addition to selling Lee's-brand coffee products and items to make Lee's sandwiches at home including their special pickled vegetables and pate.

Many locations feature wifi services and 'Drive-thru' services. The largest Lee’s Sandwiches store, situated across from the University of California, Irvine campus, is 8,300 square feet. In addition, most restaurants feature a large flashing neon-sign that lights up to show customers that hot baguettes are being served at the time.

Menu Items

The menu at Lee's features predominately sandwiches, but many other goods, including packaged spring rolls, desserts, and other food to go items are available. The sandwiches are divided into two categories
* "Vietnamese Style Sandwiches" These sandwiches are made with fresh baguette and featured a variety of vegetables and on some sandwiches a pate and special mayonnaise mix.
* "European Style Sandwiches" These sandwiches are made with croissants and feature more common sliced meats and lettuce, tomato, and onion.
