KWWV is a commercial radio station located in San Luis Obispo, California on 106.1 FM. KWWV airs a rhythmic Top 40 music format branded as "WiLD 106.1". The station plays hits from Today's Most Popular artists such as Fergie, Rihanna, Diddy, Gwen Stefani, Akon, Justin Timberlake, Timbaland, Nelly Furtado and more.

tation history

KWWV dropped the Smooth Jazz format on 99.7 and signed on as Kiss 99.7 with the current Rhythmic / CHR format in 1997. Moved the format to 106.1 in Fall of 1999 for better signal coverage. Eventually dropped the Kiss moniker after Clear Channel filed suit claiming ownership of the name Kiss.

After the demise of Clear Channel owned Mainstream / CHR KSLY SLY 96... WiLD 106.1 moved to a more mainstream presentation, reclaiming the #1 spot in the ratings with the age 18-34 Female Demographic.
