Glenn Cornick

Glenn Cornick (born Glenn Douglas Barnard Cornick, 24 April 1947, in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria) was the bespectacled, first bass guitar player in the rock band, Jethro Tull. He separated from the band in 1970, after their third album, "Benefit". During his relatively short tenure in the band, he played some outstanding bass lines, e.g. on "Bourée" from the album "Stand Up".

Wild Turkey

After leaving Jethro Tull, Glenn Cornick formed Wild Turkey in 1971, and recorded their first album ‘Battle Hymn’ with a line up comprising Glenn (bass) with Gary Pickford-Hopkins (vocals), Alan ‘Tweke’ Lewis (lead guitar), Jon Blackmore (guitar & vocals) & Jeff Jones (drums). The album was promoted on British & US tours supporting Black Sabbath.In 1972 Mick Dyche replaced Jon Blackmore, Steve Gurl joined on keyboards and the band recorded their second album ‘Turkey’, which was also promoted on British & US tours.Early in 1974, Tweke left to join Man and Turkey continued with one guitar player until Bernie Marsden joined. Kevin Currie replaced Jeff Jones on drums, but when Gary left to join Rick Wakeman, it was decided disband Wild Turkey in June 1974.

In the mid 90’s Wild Turkey reformed to make an album, ‘Stealer of Years’, and perform at two Jethro Tull “conventions”. Glenn (bass) was rejoined by Gary (vocals), and “Tweke” (guitar) with new member Brian Thomas on drums.In the early 2000s two live albums were released, and in 2006 the fourth studio album, ‘You and Me in the Jungle‘, was recorded by Glenn Cornick (Bass) Gary Pickford-Hopkins (vocals), Mick Dyche (guitar) and Steve Gurl (keyboards), who had all appeared on earlier albums. They were joined by Graham Williams (Ex Racing Cars)(guitar), John “Pugwash” Weathers (ex Gentle Giant & Man) (percussion) and Clive Bunker (ex Jethro Tull) (drums) all of whom had played with Glenn in the past.
