"American Idol Parody Clip Show" (entitled "The Elimination Special Part II: The Elimination" on the DVD) is the thirty-sixth and final episode of the animated television series "Drawn Together".

toryline

In the series finale, the housemates find themselves in an "American Idol" type competition as they look back at the highlights from the series. The Jew Producer hosts, promising that at the end of the show, one of the housemates will be sent home. Midway through the episode, the producer shoots himself (but only after shooting a few stagehands), prompting former "American Idol" co-host Brian Dunkleman (as an out of work and despised alcoholic) to take over emcee duties. In the end, it is revealed that Munchkin Mouse is being sent home and everyone else has been fired, thus ending the series.

Musical numbers

* The cast sings "Drawn Together", the show's original rejected theme song. This is the only song in the show not to have appeared in a previous episode.

* Hero sings a ballad version of "Daisy Bell", a song originally featured in "Dirty Pranking No. 2".

* Toot sings "A Moment Like This", a song originally featured in "A Tale of Two Cows".

* Wooldoor sings a nu metal version of "Black Chick's Tongue", a song originally featured in "Hot Tub".

* Ling-Ling sings a slow piano solo version of "Ling-Ling Battle Song", a song originally featured in "Hot Tub" and later used in many episodes.

* Xandir sings "Fire the Load", a song originally featured in "Foxxy vs. the Board of Education".

* Spanky sings a spoken word version of "I Wanted You to Know", a song originally featured in "Little Orphan Hero".

* Clara and Foxxy sing an acoustic guitar version of "La-La-La-La-Labia", a song originally featured in "Clara's Dirty Little Secret". The recording used is a demo of the song sung by Tara Strong and Cree Summer that had previously been featured on "The Adam Carolla Show".

Notes and inside references

* This episode makes numerous references to the show's possible cancellation. First when the Jew Producer is reading the paper, one headline he reads says "Popular Comedy Central Toon Cancelled". One pop up says "This is a very disappointing series finale" and another pop up says "When this line was written the show had not yet been cancelled" which popped up right after Clara said they were all coming back for a fourth year. The last reference is the end where all the housemates of Drawn Together walk sadly into the unemployment office.

*This episode was originally scheduled to air on November 15, 2007 but Comedy Central moved it up a day earlier airing it alongside the season finale of South Park.

*At the end of this episode, when the housemates are gathering up their belongings, several of their belongings were featured in previous episodes: Wooldoor's clum baby, Ling-Ling's liquid detergent from Clara's Dirty Little Secret and the Comedy Central online game Soak It!, Clara's bible and Cross also from Clara's Dirty Little Secret, Foxxy's tambourine (featured in many episodes), and all of Toot's food from Requiem for a Reality Show.

*In the last shot of the episode, when everyone is walking into the Unemployment Office, Wooldoor is nowhere to be seen. This was most likely a coincidental error, as the animators probably forgot to draw him in, or he could have already been inside the office at the time that the scene was shot.

* The music that played in 'In Memoriam' was Ave Maria by Giulio Caccini

Animated cameos

* Totoro from "My Neighbor Totoro" plays piano during Ling-Ling's song. Totoro is the signature mascot of anime producer Studio Ghibli. Totoro is now the only character that has four cameos.

* The 'In Memoriam' segment of the show features clips of Scrappy-Doo (from "Lost in Parking Space, Part Two"), Annie (from "Nipple Ring-Ring Goes to Foster Care"), and Pluto and Goofy (from "Xandir and Tim, Sitting in a Tree").

Cultural references

* Being a clip show this episode makes multiple reference to previous episodes from the past season.

*The tiny bubbles of information that randomly appear on screen is a parody of VH1's music video informational show "Pop-Up Video". The sound effect used in this episode is exactly the same as the one used in the show.

*One of the pop-ups claims the writers of this episode spent most of their time playing "Halo" rather than writing lines for characters; the pop-up specifically singles out Captain Hero as an example.

*Another pop-up states the writers consider themselves "casual friends" with Family Guy & American Dad creator Seth MacFarlane.

*The Jew Producer reads a magazine called "Vanity", a reference to the entertainment trade publication "Variety".

* Ling-Ling's sultry performance on top of the piano is a reference to Michelle Pfeiffer's piano-top performance in "The Fabulous Baker Boys".Fact|date=November 2007

*The 'In Memoriam' portion of the episode parodies a similar portion of the Emmy Awards, Academy Awards and most other annually televised award shows.

*Foxxy and Clara's nude on-stage guitar duet is a parody of a scene from "Forrest Gump" where actress Robin Wright Penn performs a similar scene. The scene matches many of the camera angles used in the film.

*Toot grabs herself in the crotch and flips off the audience. This is a reference to rapper Eminem.
