Central High School is a public high school located at 5321 Jacksboro Pike in the Fountain City neighborhood of Knoxville, Tennessee, operated by the Knox County school system. The school's athletic teams are nicknamed the Bobcats, and its colors are red and black.
2008 school shooting
On August 21, 2008, a fatal shooting occurred in the school cafeteria. Fifteen-year-old sophomore Ryan McDonald, was shot and killed by fellow sophomore student Jamar Siler, also 15. The two had been in previous altercations, the details of which were not released to the general public. Siler was then taken into custody. Court proceedings are to follow October 9th in the decision whether to try Siler as an adult, which carries a minimum of 51 years imprisonment, or as a juvenile, which will carry four.
