- Kellerbier
Kellerbier or Zwickelbier (sometimes "Zoigl(bier)") is an unfiltered
beer , often alager which is not clarified or pasteurised, probably originated fromGermany . In comparison with most of the today's beer sorts, this kind of beer contains more of its original yeast and more of the valuable nutritional substances. It is often served directly from the barrel (for example, in abeer garden ) or bottled. InGermany this beer is described by manufacturers as "naturtrüb" (naturally cloudy).Originally "Zwickelbier" was a sample amount of beer taken by a brewery boss from the barrel with a help of a special pipe, so-called "Zwickelhahn". Nowadays (2007) in Germany it is commercially available in big amounts, usually as a bottom-fermented, but often also as a top-fermented ("Kellerweizen").
The name "Kellerbier" is German and literally means "
Cellar beer".Brewers of "Kellerbier"
