Archery

Bundhun's opening total was the only score recorded below 550 points in the ranking round, and was more than 60 points behind the second-to-last shooter. In his first round match against the #3 ranked archer in the world, he trailed by only one after the first three arrows, but quickly fell behind, though he did well enough to avoid having the lowest score in the knockout round.

Men's individual:

Athletics

Stéphan Buckland, who had made the final at both the 2001 and 2003 World Championships, and had won bronze at the 2003 IAAF World Athletics Final recorded the highest finish for a Mauritian athlete in Athens. He was the fastest runner in the opening round of the 200 metres, and continued on, progressing to the final. In the final, he drew a false start, and subsequently, on the second start attempt, had the poorest reaction time. He managed to beat one other runner to finish 6th.

Two other Mauritian athletes also managed to get out of the opening round of their competitions. Jonathan Chimier set a national record and qualified 2nd overall in the men's high jump, but could not repeat this performance in the final, where he finished 10th. Eric Milazar also advanced out of the opening round of the 400 metres, and came close to qualifying for the final, falling just 0.15 seconds short. Mauritius's only female member of the Athletics team was not as successful, finishing second-to-last in the women's 20 km walk.
