Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum

Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum is a Fiji Indian lawyer, who was appointed Attorney-General, Minister for Justice, Electoral Reform & Anti-Corruption in the interim Cabinet of Commodore Frank Bainimarama on 8 January 2006.

Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum is the son of Sayed Abdul Khaiyum, a longtime National Federation Party politician and the brother of former Fiji TV Journalist and current Fiji Broadcasting Corporation chairman, Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum. He has a Masters degree in Law (University of Hong Kong), and Bachelors in Law (University of New South Wales) and Bachelors in Political Science (Australian National University). He was a former senior legal officer in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. Prior to his appointment to the cabinet Sayed-Khaiyum was the General Manager Legal in the Colonial Group of Companies. He also worked with the law firm of Minter Ellison in Sydney. He was on the board of Transparency International Fiji and has been President of the Fiji Young Lawyers Association.
