Jack Grimes (actor)

Jack Grimes (April 1,1926-) is an American voice and Radio actor who Played "Jimmy Olsen" in the last three years of "The Adventures of Superman" radio program,the Filmation TV series "The New Adventures of Superman" of 1966, and provided his voice to the 1967 anime, Speed Racer.

Jack Grimes was born in Manhattan. His career in acting began at age seven, during the depression, when Jack was forced to find work in order to help earn money for his family. He got a part in the Broadway play, "Old Maid." The play won a Pulitzer Prize and ran for ten months in New York after which it went on tour for eleven months.

Jack went on to get work in radio beginning with the CBS program, "Let's Pretend." He was also cast in "Fred Allen", "The Phillip Morris Playhouse", "Second Husband", and "Death Valley Days." From age 12 Jack was doing between 35 to 40 radio shows a week.In 1944, Jack commuted to California to act in films for Universal. His credits include "Fairytale Murder", "Lady on a Train", and "Weekend at the Waldorf".In the fifties Jack made the transition from radio to television. His notable television work includes "Alcoa Presents", "Love of Life", "The Aldrich Family", "Tom Corbett, Space Cadet", "Maude", "On the Rocks", and "All in the Family".

Although Jack and Peter Fernandez had crossed paths as youngsters it wasn't until 1962 that they began work together on a series of records for MGM. Five years later, Peter hired Jack as the voice of Sparky and Chim Chim on Speed Racer.
