Filmfare Best Villain Award

Filmfare Best Villain Award

The Filmfare Best Villain Award is given by "Filmfare" magazine as part of its annual Filmfare Awards for Hindi films.

Although the awards started in 1953, awards for the best villain category started only in 1991.

Kajol is the first woman who won this award. Only two women have won this award till date, she and Priyanka Chopra, though other women (such as Preity Zinta and Esha Deol) have been nominated for this award.

Most frequent winners are Nana Patekar and Ashutosh Rana with two awards each.

Here is a list of the award winners and the films for which they won.

As this award was instituted in 1991, it could not be given to some of the biggest, baddest screen villains in Bollywood history:

* Amjad Khan for the evil dacoit Gabbar Singh in "Sholay" (1975)
* Pran (1950s and 1960s) and Prem Chopra (1970s and 1980s) played heavies in many movies.
* Amrish Puri, as well as many other villain roles, portrayed the villainous Mogambo in Mr. India (1987). He was known for the phrase "Mogambo khush hua" (It makes Mogambo happy).
* Others : Jeevan, Ajit, Ranjit
