Sharon Strzelecki

Sharon Karen Strzelecki (age 27) is a fictional character on the Australian comedy series, "Kath & Kim", and is portrayed by Magda Szubanski. Sharon is sports-obsessed, and often unlucky in love. She is treated unfairly by her lazy, self-indulgent best friend Kim Craig, who only considers Sharon as her second best friend. She is half-Polish (like Szubanski) and in one episode was shown to be unable to correctly spell her last name.

Interests

Sharon's main interest is sports, and sports uniforms (summer and winter) make up the entirety of her wardrobe. She is particularly active in netball , where she is team captain of the Sapphires (and also the Unicorns), and indoor cricket. However, she is known to have golfed and to have participated in shot put at the national level. Sharon also takes an interest in Kim's (and occasionally Kath's) life, and often unquestioningly aids Kim in her bizarre and frivolous endeavors.

Relationships

Sharon is Kim's 'second best friend' but was dropped to sixth best friend after Sharon slept with Brett, and is often tormented by Kim because of her 'stupidity'. Sharon has an ex-boyfriend by the name of Mark and also has a crush on Kim's husband Brett. She eventually slept with Brett in the series 4 finale, but regreted it the morning after when Kim caught them. However, how regret was mainly focused on the fact that Brett was a 'Dud Root'. It was revealed in the finale of series 2 that Sharon originally dated Brett before Kim did, but was dumped by him for Kim on the first day he and Kim meet.
Kath and Sharon are mostly friendly towards each other and Kath (who Sharon refers to as Mrs. D) often gangs up on Kim with Sharon because of Kim's weight. Sharon's mother abandoned her as a baby and went to Britain where her mother had given birth to a younger half-sister, Karen (Matt Lucas). Karen, who is very spoiled, travels a lot in her work as a plus-size model.

Recurring gags and Features

Almost every character on the show has their own humorous features and Sharon, isn't without.

Kath's Fridge - She often enters a scene, heads straight to Kath's fridge, and begins eating. Frequently, she eats the last of Kim's dippity bix or fat-free freuche. This causes Kim to exclaim "Sharon! That was my last ___!", to which Sharon responds "Well, I didn't know, Kim!" Kim finishes the gag with the line "Well you never bloody know, Sharon!"

Injuries - She is often seen with an injury of some sort, and regularly appears wearing a cast or splint, including neck braces, eyepatches, arm casts, and finger splints. On other occasions, she is shown with 'pash rash'(as Kim calls it), boils, or carbuncles. These injuries and afflictions are assumed to be incurred from her sports-playing. She's also broken her fibula five times.

Shane Warne obsession - As an avid cricket fan, she is a huge fan of Shane Warne. She is often seen reading his books and impersonating "the flipper". In season four, she married a "Shane Warne look a like" and during the morning of her wedding is seen with two pictures of Shane Warne, one picture of a younger Warne, the other, a matured,older one (which was the look a like, although both pictures are obviously of Warne).
