Fernando Morena Belora (born February 2, 1952 in Montevideo) is a retired football striker from Uruguay, who was nicknamed "Nando" during his professional career. He is the all time top goalscorer in the history of the Uruguayan Primera with 230 goals in 244 games [ [http://www.rsssf.com/tablesu/urutops-allt.html rsssf: All time top goalscorers in Uruguay] ] He scored 667 in his almost 20 year career.

Club career

Morena started his playing career in 1968 with Racing Montevideo, in 1969 he joined River Plate Montevideo where he played until 1972.

Morena joined Peñarol in 1973, in his first spell with the club he enjoyed winning four Uruguayan Primera championships. He was top scorer in the Uruguayan league six times consecutively between 1973 and 1978 and was top scorer in the Copa Libertadores in 1974 and 1975.

In 1979 Morena joined Spanish side Rayo Vallecano and in 1980 he spent a season with Valencia.

Morena returned to Peñarol in 1981 where he helped the team to win two more Uruguayan league titles in 1981 and 1982, they also won the Copa de Oro in 1981, the Copa Libertadores in 1982 and the Copa Intercontinental in 1982.

In 1983 Morena joined Brazilian side Flamengo and in 1984 he played for Boca Juniors of Argentina. He finished his playing career back at Peñarol in 1985.

International career

Having made his debut on October 27, 1971 against Chile (3-0), scoring one goal, Morena obtained a total number of 53 international caps for the Uruguay national football team. He represented his native country at the 1974 FIFA World Cup. His tally of 22 goals for Uruguay made him the fifth highest scorer in the history of the team.

Morena was part of the Uruguayan team that won the Copa América in 1983.

Managerial career

After retiring as a player Morena has held several managerial positions in Uruguay, Spain and Chile. His first position was settled in River Plate, which was followed by jobs at Peñarol, Real Murcia in Spain, Huracán Buceo, Rampla Juniors, Colo Colo in Chile and a second spell at Peñarol in 2005.
