Plymouth, Pictou County, Nova Scotia

Plymouth is a small Canadian rural community in Pictou County, Nova Scotia located approximately 3 km south of the town of New Glasgow. It stretches along Route 348 situated on the east bank of the East River of Pictou, opposite the town of Stellarton.

Now largely dominated by mixed farming and near-urban sprawl, Plymouth is also home to the site of the Westray coal mine. The Westray Mine Disaster of Saturday, May 9, 1992 which killed 26 miners, placed Plymouth in the international media spotlight for almost a week during the failed rescue efforts, with the local community centre, opposite the infamous mine site, becoming a symbol of the area.

The Westray mine site is now owned by Gennoes bakeries and is now rented out to such businesses as Aliant, and during the Aliant strike was always full of Union employees.

Plymouth is also home to Progressive Conservative candidate Sue Uhren, who ran and fell 100 votes short of MLA Clerrie MacKinnon in the spring 2006 election.
