chool Songs

Buckeye Valley has two school songs:

The Buckeye Valley Alma Mater:"Joyously to thee we raise, Buckeye Valley High,":"Songs of loyalty and praise, which shall never die.":"Thou our inspiration art, ne'er shall any heart,":"From these sacred halls depart, Buckeye Valley High."

Down The Field - Gladiators:"March, march on down the field, fighting for BV":"Once more the Brown and Gold":"will break through that line.":"And then a long cheer for BV's teams,":"We're here to win again":"BV's teams will fight to the end for Victory."::"Our fans will cheer to the end for our teams":"and lift up their spirits to lead them to victory":"With our heads held up high,":"and our eyes filled with pride,":"BV's teams will forever fight for Victory!"

The Buckeye Valley Fight Song consists of portions of two separate songs. The first portion, entitled "Down the Field" was written by Stanleigh P. Friedman in 1905 for Yale University. The second half, entitled "Entrance of the Gladiators" or "Gladiators" was written by the Czeck composer Julius Ernst Wilhelm Fučík circa 1897.

Homecoming

Homecoming games are played during both the football and basketball seasons and feature much pomp and circumstance organized by the Student Council. Football Homecoming is typically the larger of the two events. During Homecoming week, students participate in Spirit Week activities which often include "Comfy Day", "Hat Day", "Wacky Hair Day" and "Brown and Gold Day". Typically, all-girl powderpuff football teams are organized and coached by willing students during the fall sports season and all-boy volleyball games are played during the winter sports season. During Homecoming week, Alumni Band Members return and rehearse with the Marching Band. During the Big Game, the reigning Homecoming queen returns to crown her successor during the pregame festivities. As tradition has it, the Marching Band and Alumni will perform the Revolving 'B' to the Buckeye Valley Fight Song at the conclusion of the halftime show.

Prom

A committee of members of the junior class is responsible for planning and organizing each aspect of Prom week. The committee decides on the theme and location of the Prom dance and raises funds throughout the year to cover the cost invitations, decorations, souvenirs and other various expenses. Teen Institute organizes an assembly in accordance with Prom Promise Week to stress the importance of good decision making in a safe prom night. Throughout Prom week, elections for Prom Queen and King are run by the Student Council. The results are announced during the dance and the Queen and King lead the seniors in the senior dance.
