=Athletics=

Le Van Duong finished well behind the leading runners in the 800m, but did set a new Vietnamese record for the distance.

Men's 800 metres:
* Le Van Duong
** Round 1: 1:49.81 (8th in heat 2, did not advance, 64th overall) ("Vietmanese Record")

Women's High Jump:
* Bui Thi Nhung
** Qualification: 1.80 m (16th in Group A, did not advance, 33rd overall)


=Canoeing=

Flatwater

Doan Thi Cach came through last at the halfway checkpoint and at the finish line of both her races.

Women's K1 500 metres:
* Doan Thi Cach
** Heat: 2:06.126 (7th in heat 1, advanced to semifinal)
**Semifinal: 2:06.692 (8th in semifinal 2, did not advance, 20th overall)


=Rowing=

The Vietnamese pairing failed to finish within 15 seconds of the next-fastest boat in all three races, and were in last place at every checkpoint.

Women's Lightweight Double Sculls:
* Pham Thi Hien and Nguyen Thi Thi
** Heat: 7:42.43 (6th in heat 1, advanced to repechage)
** Repechage: 7:35.29 (5th in repechage 1, advanced to final C)
** Final C: 8:14.80 (6th in final C, 18th overall)


=Shooting=

Vietnam's only shooter at the Games was 14 points away from qualifying for the 8-man final, and did shoot a near-perfect fourth series of shots, scoring 99 of 100.

Men's 10 metre Air Pistol:
* Nguyen Manh Tuong
** Qualification: 568 points (41st overall, did not advance)


=Swimming=

Men's 100 metre Breaststroke:
* Nguyen Huu Viet
** Heat: 1:06.70 (52nd overall, did not advance)


=Table Tennis=

Doan Kien Quoc managed a set against his Italian opponent in the first round of the Men's singles, but then lost three straight and the match.

Men's Singles:

** First Round: Defeated by Min Yang of Italy ( 11 - 5, 11 - 13, 11 - 7, 11 - 5, 11 - 5)


=Taekwondo=

Nguyen Quoc Huan was clearly the most successful Vietnamese athlete at the 2004 Games, coming within a win of a medal. However, his performance in the last two matches was not strong, as he failed to score a point.

Men's Under 58 kg:
* Nguyen Quoc Huan
** Round of 16: Defeated Seyfula Magomedov of Russia (12 - 10)
** Quarterfinal: Defeated Paul Green of Great Britain (4 - 2)
** Semifinal: Lost to Oscar Francisco Salazar Blanco of Mexico (0 - 8) (advanced to repechage round 2)
**Repechage Round 2: Lost to Juan Ramos of Spain (0 - 8)

Men's Over 80 kg:
* Nguyen Van Hung
** Round of 16: Defeated Teemu Heino of Finland (8 - 5)
** Quarterfinal: Lost to Ibrahim Kamal of Jordan (2 - 4)


=Weightlifting=

Nguyen Thi Thiet was the lightest competitor in the Women's Under 63 kg division, at 61.15 kg.
