=Athletics=

Sekpona's time was the third-slowest in the competition, while Thiebaud-Kangni was nearly a second away from making the second round.

=Canoeing=

As the only African representative in Canoe-Kayak Slalom, and one of only three African boats in Canoe-Kayak, Benjamin Boukpeti did his continent very proud, putting up a clean first run, followed by a another solid run to earn himself a semi-final place. Boukpeti struggled in the semifinal, going fast enough to make the final, but hitting three gates to pick up 6 penalty points.
