Circulism ("Aldairea" or Sarkazmiya Arabicنظرية الدائرية) An art movement/style was found that was founded by the Kuwaiti pioneer Khalifa Alqattan in mid 1963. This new trend is based on philosophy with a strong tendency for human drama. [http://www.alarabimag.com/arabi/common/mawsoa/qtan.htm] [http://www.q8art.net/k_qattan/khalefa_alqattan.htm]

"CIRCULISM" Another form of Circulism is done with the use of toothpicks, Nails and Q-tips. This technique was started en 2004 by the New Yorker Artist, SACHA. The ink, pencil and color pencil technic has been around for centuries and therefore has not been invented by anyone recently. SACHA, has been painting in oils since the age of 15, but had always tried to show his brush strokes in a cross or circular strokes, never leaving the paint on flat on the canvas. In Spain, 2004, SACHA started to use the toothpicks to mix the paint by making circles, therefore scratching the surface of the canvas. "Circulism, is not just drawings on paper with the use of pencils, SACHA has taken Circulism to another level and has done Circulism on glass, canvas, wood, cardboard and other surfaces with the use of toothpicks." The colored pencil technique called circulism was invented in 1992 by Maggie Toole. The word circulism apparently existed prior to that time but that was not known to this artist... "Creating the technique I call Circulism, as a derivative of Pointillism, was my way of incorporating a painting style that I loved with one of my favorite tools, the pencil. What happened next came more natural than anything before it, and from the first piece I drew, there was a magic about it. Using colored pencils, I draw no lines at all...only varied, unending, overlapped and intertwined circles. Building seemingly transparent layers, incorporating all color. As in pointillism, the distant viewer's eye fuses these into realistic shades of human flesh, hair and life."
