=Athletics=

Men's Triple Jump:
* Mohammad Hazzory
**Qualification: 16.37 m (13th in Group B, did not advance, 25th overall)

Women's 5000 metres:

**Round 1: 17:18.66 (18th in heat 1, did not advance, 39th overall)


=Boxing=

Syria sent one boxer, Naser Al Shami to Athens. Al Shami had only won bronze at the 2002 Asian Games, and was not expected to threaten for a medal. He defeated All-Africa Games winner Emmanuel Izonritei by points and Sydney middleweight bronze medalist Vugar Alakbarov by virtue of a disqualification. In the semifinal, though, two time world champion Odlanier Solis Fonte of Cuba proved too much for him, but even with the loss, Al Shami earned a bronze medal, Syria's only medal of the Games.

=Judo=

The only Syrian judoka competing in Athens lost his first match, but did survive the full five minutes.

=Shooting=

Dahi finished seven points behind the next-to-last shooter in the competition.

**Qualification: 106 points (41st overall)


=Swimming=

El Masri actually came within 0.05 seconds of the top 16 and a semi-final berth, and finished just behind 2003 Worlds bronze medalist Pieter van den Hoogenband and tied with world champion and twice-Olympic champion Alexander Popov.
