In 2008, Hendrix released a statement announcing his run for Congress in 2010.And was elected A National Presidential Delegate for 2008.

Early life

Born in Granite Falls, North Carolina in 1970, Hendrix is the son of Rev. Richard and Donna Hendrix. His musical skills developed early in life when, as an adolescent, Hendrix worked at local radio stations around North Carolina. Having discovered his true passion for music, Hendrix decided to drop out of high school and become a full-time disc jockey. It was during this time Hendrix co-managed dates for cult icon Tiny Tim, famous for "Tip Toe Thru the Tulips." He also had a stint with Billy Idol during these years. Aged only 19 (but already well experienced in the business of music), he decided to form his own musical promotions company in 1989. After two years of managing both a music career and his full time radio job, he left radio in 1991 to focus exclusively on his music career.

Musical artists, groups, and singers such as Hank Williams, Loretta Lynn, The Hoppers, The Oak Ridge Boys, Queen, and The Happy Goodman Family are all cited by Hendrix as early music influences.

ongwriter

Many of the 1000+ songs written by Hendrix have become Southern Gospel and Christian standards. Included among the titles: "You'll Never Run Out of the Blood", " He Chose Me", "When There is No Hope (There is Grace)", " Sometimes It Takes a Mountain", " God Still Dries Our Tears", and "Mama's Letters to Jesus". Hendrix has been nominated as songwriter and producer of the year nearly a dozen times in the Gospel Music Association's Dove Awards"'.

Promoter

Since Hendrix first began promoting with his positive music convictions, he has helped artists sell 250+ million albums and score 3,000+ national hit songs. Hendrix and his company promoted the Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey Oscar winning single "When You Believe" as well as the multi- Grammy # 1 smash hit "Dance With My Father" by legendary Luther Vandross. In the past decade, Rick Hendrix has placed 6000+ positive/faith based songs, in all genres, that have charted or played on modern day American radio.

Entrepreneur and influence

Hendrix has modernized and molded a home for faith-based music, [http://www.beliefnet.com/story/63/story_6375.html] spanning all genres and moving past the boundaries of past segregated marketing. Christian music can now easily be promoted to rock and country radio by labels and artists, while secular artists are finding a home on Christian radio as well.

His involvement with "positive" music has produced 160 number one songs and caused a revival within the genres, bringing together giants of country music and the Southern Gospel and Christian industry. In addition to being a promoter and songwriter, Hendrix has produced albums for Christian artists since the early 1990s.

Hendrix collaborated with his mother, Donna Hendrix, to write the Dove Award nominated song "Mama's Letters to Jesus" in 2002. The song became an instant Top 10 hit and saw continued success as it was developed into a book.

In 2004, Billboard Magazine interviewed Hendrix about BMG's decision to let him pick Elvis Presley's first ever gospel single for national radio. Hendrix was also chosen to release and promote Johnny Cash's last recording sessions in 2006.

Hendrix has mentored many up-and-comers in the music industry, often helping to promote their first number one songs. Highlights among this work include: Diamond Rio, Josh Gracin, The Crabb Family, Ernie Haase & Signature Sound, Josh Turner, Garth Brooks, the promotion of songs for Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Mariah Carey, Bette Midler, Creed and the continued promotion of various American Idol artists.

Rick Hendrix, now divorced, resides in Granite Falls, NC and Nashville, TN and shares custody of his two children: Hailey Hendrix and Zachary Hendrix.
