Edward Pelham-Clinton, 10th Duke of Newcastle-under-Lyne

Edward Pelham-Clinton, 10th Duke of Newcastle-under-Lyne

Edward Pelham-Clinton (1920 – 25 December 1988) was an English nobleman.

As he was unmarried, and there were no other direct male heirs through the 2nd Duke's line, on his death the title of Duke of Newcastle-under-Lyne became extinct.

He was the son of Captain Guy Edward Pelham-Clinton and a great-grandson of the 4th Duke of Newcastle under Lyne.

He was educated at Eton College and Trinity College, Oxford and served as a captain in the Royal Artillery during the Second World War.

He was an expert lepidopterist and Deputy Keeper at the Royal Scottish Museum, Edinburgh. He succeeded his cousin the 9th Duke, in November 1988, and died 1 month later.
