Cults Academy is an Aberdeen City Council secondary school in Cults, Aberdeen, Scotland. It is the recipient of The Sunday Times Scottish State Secondary School of the Year Award 2008 due to its outstanding exam results in the past year [1], having been rated 3rd in 2005.[2] Based on pupil numbers, Cults Academy is also the largest state school in Aberdeen.
Founded in 1967, the academy has always played a key role in the community and the wider area, with a branch of the Dutch Rijnlands Lyceum International School based at the school for children of oil industry expats. The school has various sports teams and societies, along with a large music set-up and charity organisation, CATCH.
The old 1960s school building has been replaced with a new building on the site of its existing playing fields. The old building was used by pupils for the last time on Wednesday the 7th of October 2009 and the first pupils to use the new building were ceremoniously escorted into it on Wednesday the 28th of October 2009.

Exam results generally are above-average, with the school's aforementioned high rating evidence of this.

Pupils
Approximately 1170 attend the school each year (one of the largest attendances in the Aberdeen area), between the ages of approximately 11 to 18. The majority have attended one of the five primary schools in the catchment area; Cults Primary School, Culter School, Lairhillock Primary, Milltimber Primary, and St. Joseph's Primary (a Roman Catholic faith school). Children from other areas attend after successful application by parents. In the sixth year section of the Cults Academy there are S6 leaders and the Head Boy and Head Girl who are appointed to help with the running of the school and also to work in co-operation with the Senior Management Team (SMT).

Houses
Pupils are split up into five different houses each with their own Guidance teacher who offers help, support and takes Social Education classes. The five houses are named after local areas.

As of the 2008/2009 session Blairs house ceased to exist and a new structure for SMT and guidance will be implemented so that Deputy Heads no longer are in charge of a year but a particular house as well as the Guidance teacher.
Sporting Achievements
Football
The senior football team of 2007-08 reached the final of the Bank of Scotland Senior Shield Final and played at Hampden Park on 29 April 2008, losing to Our Lady's High of Cumbernauld 2-1. In 2008-09, the senior team won the President's Trophy Final with a 3-0 win over Westhill while the Under 14 team won the Sportsmans' Trophy with a 3-0 win over Hazlehead. The Under 14s also reached the final of the Scottish Shield, losing 2-0 to St Ambrose High at Forthbank Stadium on 29 April 2009.
