Beijing Subway/2

Line 2 of the Beijing Subway runs in a rectangular loop around the city centre, tracing the Ming Dynasty inner city wall, which was demolished and paved over by the 2nd Ring Road and Qianmen Avenue. Line 2 encircles the old city center districts of Dongcheng and Xicheng and skirts the northern of edges of Chongwen and Xuanwu. It is the only subway line serving the Beijing Railway Station. The entire line runs underground and connects with Line 1 at Fuxingmen and Jianguomen, Line 5 at the Yonghegong Lama Temple Station and Chongwenmen, and to Line 13 at Xizhimen and Dongzhimen.

List of Stations

Twelve of Line 2's eighteen stations are named after city gates. These stations end in "men", meaning gate. Line 2 trains going in the clockwise direction are identified as running on the "inner loop". Trains going in the counter clockwise direction are identified as running on the "outer loop". The following table lists Line 2 stations in counter clockwise order.
