Rob Murphy (born January 18, 1977 in Buffalo, New York) is an offensive lineman for the CFL's BC Lions.

Early years

Murphy was a starter throughout his three seasons for the Ohio State Buckeyes. He participated in the 1997 Rose Bowl and the 1998 Sugar Bowl and was a 2-time All-American in 1997 and 1998 as well as earning All-Big Ten Conference honours.

Professional career

Murphy went undrafted but signed with the Cincinnati Bengals in 1999, was picked up by the Kansas City Chiefs, and played with the Frankfurt Galaxy of NFL Europe in 2000, starting all ten Galaxy games.

Murphy was drafted 184th overall [cite web|url=http://www.all-xfl.com/chicagoenforcers/team/roster/robmurphy.htm|title=Rob Murphy|work=Chicago Enforcers Roster|publisher=ALL-XFL Memorial Network|accessdate=2008-10-05] by the Chicago Enforcers in the 2001 XFL Draft and started 11 games including their playoff game.

From 2002 to 2005, he played 26 National Football League games including 10 games with the Indianapolis Colts in 2002 and 15 with the San Francisco 49ers in 2004.

Canadian Football League

The BC Lions signed Murphy as a free agent prior to the 2006 CFL season and made an immediate impact winning the CFL's Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman Award, was selected to the CFL All-Star team, and helped the Lions win the 94th Grey Cup; all in his first CFL season. With such success, Murphy was able to renegotiate a significant salary increase for the option year on his contract. Murphy continued his success in the 2007 CFL season. He was again named the CFL's Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman and selected for the CFL All-Star team. He was named Gladiator of the Game during Friday Night Football against Edmonton Eskimos and, at the conclusion of the season, named a 2007 Walby Warrior. Personal life

Murphy and his wife, Amy, live in Florida in the off-season and are the parents of triplets (two boys and a girl) born July 1, 2008.
