Beijing Subway/10

Line 10 of the Beijing Subway is a subway line that is being planned (and has been in part opened) and built in two phases. The first phase has just entered operation on July 19, 2008 and the second phase is now under construction and set to open in 2012.

Route and Stations

Phase I route

Line 10, in the first phase now in operation, is an inverted "L"-shaped line that runs to the north and east of the city. In the north, it begins in Bagou near Wanliu Park in Haidian District and runs straight east along the northern section of the Yuan dynasty city wall between the northern 3rd and 4th Ring Roads. The line turns south after the Sanyuanqiao stop northeast of the city and follows the eastern 3rd Ring Road straight south to Jinsong in Chaoyang District. The line will connect the university district in Haidian with the embassy district and Beijing CBD in Chaoyang District. The Olympic Spur off of Line 10 at Beitucheng provides access to the Olympic village. Line 10 in Phase I is 24.68 km in length and has 22 stations. Construction began in December 2003 and was completed by the end of June 2008. A trip from Bagou to Jinsong is expected to take 40 minutes.

Phase I stations

Line 10 stations, from the northwest to the southeast (with transfer points): Bagou, Suzhoujie, Haidian Huangzhuang, Zhizhunli, Zhichunlu (Line 13), Xitucheng, Mudanyuan, Jiandemen, Beitucheng (Line 8), Anzhenmen, Huixinxijie Nankou (Line 5), Shaoyaoju (Line 13), Taiyanggong, Sanyuanqiao (Airport Line), Liangmaqiao, Agricultural Exposition Centre, Tuanjiehu, Hujialou, Jintaixizhao, Guomao (Line 1), Shuangjing, Jinsong.

Phase II route

Line 10 will be extended across the south and west of the city to form a second loop line. In the south, it will follow the southern 3rd Ring Road. In the west, it will run between the western 3rd and 4th Ring Roads. Construction on Phase II began on December 9, 2007. The full Line 10 loop will have 45 stations in all, with 24 transfer points to other subway and light rail lines. Technology

Signaling system

For metro line 10, Siemens Transportation Systems and China Railway Signaling & Communication Corp. have equipped the line with ETCS Level 3 technology. As a fallback level the ETCS Level 1 is available. There are subway public security bureaus (police stations) located in the Bagou, Beitucheng and Liangmaqiao stations.
