K-League forBucheon FC from 1985 to 1992. After retired, he stepped up from coach, assistant coach, and to head coach. He managed 2 teams -Bucheon FC andDaejeon Citizen Footballer Life
He took his step to Football-field as he made his debut in
K-League on 1985, atBucheon FC (Unfortunately, this team has been disappeared due to shocking relocation to Jeju). As a defender, he appeared 162 games and scored 5 goals. Also, He was selected to National Olympic Team and A-Team and took chance to play on 1988 Seoul Olympic. He ended his career as a football player on 1992.Bucheon and Choi
After retired, he made his mind to live "second footballer-life" as a coach. He started his coaching life as "Training Coach" at
Bucheon FC . Two years later, he promoted to coach. Also 4 years later, he was chosen to "Assistant Coach", and finally he stood in stadium as a Head coach on 2001 at the same team. However, with unclear reason - though he had no problems and led that team fairly good - Bucheon board decided to change their manager. Bucheon fans protested, but the decision wasn't changed.Coming back to hometown
On 2003 - after having to cope with chilly winter - Daejeon selected him and Choi came back his hometown. Desperate results on 2002 made team and fans suppressed, and took confidence away. But Choi inspired the team and competely changed that team, transplanting his 4-3-3 formation to his side. He made miraclous year for him and Daejeon going together catchphrase "Miracle 2003". Daejeon marked 6th place, the best record ever since its first step to league, and gathered average about 18,000 attandance. Though after 2003 Daejeon couldn't make notable results, Choi is still hero and conductor at Daejeon World Cup Stadium. In addition, he is famous for his humble personality - making team harmonious. "I want make this team that a player favourly choose, not just bringing a player in this team in my will. Not buy abilities and gather it. Played by human, team that players love, and have same dream with fans." well represents it.
