Jackson Lake Lodge is located in Grand Teton National Park, in the U. S. state of Wyoming. The lodge is managed by the Grand Teton Lodge Company, and is not affliated with the National Park Service. The Grand Teton Lodge Company also manages the Jenny Lake Lodge, as well as several different motels, restaurants and other services at Colter Bay Village. On July 31, 2003, the lodge was listed as a National Historic Landmark. Designed by architect Gilbert Stanley Underwood and completed in 1955, the lodge is considered a prime example of the International Style which was commonly seen in structures built on U.S. Government parklands in the mid-20th century. The lodge combines elements of the more rustic structures of the earlier decades of the 20th century with a more modern design elements that became standard for the next couple of decades. In June 2007, the lodge received some measure of notoriety when a Wyoming science and physical education teacher was mauled by a grizzly bear near the lodge.
