Michael Tien

This is a Chinese name; the family name is Tien.

Michael Puk Sun Tien ^[1] (Chinese: 田北辰, born 1950 in Hong Kong with family roots in Shanghai) is deputy chairman of New People's Party, and the member of Tsuen Wan District Council. He is founder of The G2000 Group and the former chairman of the board of the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC). He joined the Liberal Party in 2008, a party led by his elder brother, James Tien, a member of Legislative Council of Hong Kong. His personal website was launched on 25 April 2008. He is a graduate of Worcester Academy.

History

In 2006, Tien resigned as chairman of the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation due to disputes with other directors over his management style.^[2]

Tien joined Liberal Party in 2008 and became District Office for Kowloon West. He quit the party in 2010 and started the New People's Party with Regina Ip. Michael Tien was in a documentary about rich people experiencing the life of people who live in poor Hong Kong neighborhoods.
