Scouting started in Australia with some individual troops in Western Australia and Victoria in 1907.
CHUMS Scout Patrols start forming in 1908 Australia due to the circulation of CHUMS publication there. R.C. Packer and the Sunday Times in 1908 support the formation of theLeague of Boy Scouts . TheBoy's Brigade launched their Scouts program in 1909. Troops under theBritish Boy Scouts (BBS) program begin operations in 1909. Australian Boy Scouts was started. With affiliation to the United Kingdom's Boy Scouts Association in July 1910, Australian League of Boy Scouts Queensland renamed itself to League of Baden-Powell Boy Scouts, Queensland Section and again in 1914 to Boy Scout's Association, Queensland Section. The Australian Boy Scouts merge with the Imperial Boy Scouts to becomeAustralian Imperial Boy Scouts (A.I.B.S.) by 1912. In 1912, the Gippsland Boy Scout Association is formed and affiliates with the A.I.B.S. The Church Scout Patrols cease activities by 1912 while the League of Boy Scouts stopped around 1914. Additional section are formed over the years: Tasmanian, South Australia and West Australia (1920/1921), Victorian (1923), and Queensland Branch in 1926 with the merger of the Boy Scout's Association, Queensland Section. Another part of the Girl Peace Scouts ended up joining the Girl Guides in the 1920s. In 1923, the
Life Saving Scouts are formed by the Salvation Army. Norfolk Island Boy Scouts form in 1922. The Methodist Boy Scouts (W.A.) associate with Boy Scouts Association after 1924. Blue Boy Scouts of Mt. Various exile associations are formed in the 1950's Hellenic Scouts and Maltese Scouts organizations are form during the 1950s too. Australia BBS activities continue until 1950 while members continue to exist in the organization to present date. Life Saving Scouts are replaced by the Salvation Army with the Boy's Legion in 1970s. Hellenic Scouts and Vietnamese Scouts (formed in 1970 or 1971) ended operations in 1972 but exist as interest groups. The 1st Devonport Scouts goes independent in 1981 from the YMCA Scouts.
Traditional Scouting organizations (Baden-Powell Scouts The Baden-Powell Scouts' Association Ltd., The Baden-Powell Association (S.A.) Inc., The Baden-Powell Scouts' Association (Tasmania) Inc.) form in Australia in 1982. The 1st Devonport Scouts in 1985 affiliated with the Baden-Powell Scouts.
