Treehouse TV is a Canadian English language cable television specialty channel with programming targeted towards preschoolers that was launched on November 1, 1997. Its name comes from YTV's old children's programming block, The Treehouse (although Treehouse TV has a slightly younger target audience). The channel is owned by Corus Entertainment.

Programming

Programming typically consists of a 15-22 minute show, followed by a few minutes of commercials advertising other programs on Treehouse TV, followed by a 5 minute segment such as Treetown, Farzzle's World, Toopy and Binoo, 4 Square or the Mole Sisters. Treehouse TV broadcasts mostly children's shows, geared towards ages 5 and younger. Treehouse TV's original programming is primarily produced by Nelvana, another Corus Entertainment company, and includes:

* Treetown
* This Is Daniel Cook
* This is Emily Yeung
* Toopy and Binoo
* Toy Castle

Treehouse TV also features preschool shows from children's channels of Canada and other countries, and includes:

* Barney and Friends
* The Berenstain Bears (2003 TV series)
* The Big Comfy Couch
* Blue's Clues
* Dora the Explorer
* Go, Diego, Go!
* In the Night Garden
* Koala Brothers
* Little Bear (TV series)
* Ni Hao, Kai-lan
* Pocoyo
* The Wiggles (broadcast as "Wiggle and Learn")
* Wonder Pets
* Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!
* Yo Gabba Gabba!

Advertising

Prior to Fall 2006, Treehouse TV was a completely commercial-free service. In late 2006, they began airing 10 second commercial sponsor announcements before each program, introduced with: "Today's programming schedule is brought to you by...."

Treehouse On-Demand

In 2005, Corus Entertainment began offering a video on demand service called "Treehouse On-Demand" to cable providers such as Rogers Cable and Cogeco, delivering content from Treehouse TV. It is offered as a free service to customers who subscribe to each providers digital cable service. Some providers such as Sasktel offer it as a stand-alone premium subscription service.

Treehouse (program block)

Treehouse was previously a programing block on YTV. It aired weekday mornings until 1998, after which it was replaced with an unhosted block, simply called "YTV Jr."While most hosted blocks had one or two hosts, Treehouse had 3 PJs (Program Jockeys) and was also co-hosted by the Fuzzpaws (stuffed animal puppets, similar to Muppets)As the name suggests, it was set in a treehouse. PJ Katie had her own show, called PJ Katie's Farm, where she acted out stories with clay animals.

After Treehouse

After Treehouse was cancelled, The Fuzzpaws got their own show on YTV Jr. and PJ Katie went on to become Jenny on The Zone (Katie was her middle name, there already was a Jenny with YTV at the time she was a PJ)The name YTV Jr. was later dropped; there was still children's programming shown at the time, but there was not a special name given to it.
