Kabulistan

Kabulistan

Kabulistan (PerB|کابلستان) is a historical term referring to the eastern territories of Khorasan that is centered around present-day Kabul, Afghanistan. It is sometimes reported as Caboul in many old English and French books.

At its peak, Kabulistan included Kunduz, Badakhshan, Ghazni, Qandahar, and the territory to the east, as far as the Indus River in Pakistan. [ [http://www.aisk.org/aisk/NHDAHGTK05.php#Top The Story of Kabul, Timurids] , "Kabul under Pir Muhammad was now the prosperous capital of a province which included Kunduz, Badakhshan, Ghazni, Qandahar, and the territory to the east, as far as the Indus."] [ [http://depts.washington.edu/silkroad/texts/hhshu/notes14.html Section 14 – The Kingdom of Gaofu (Kabul) ] ] [ [http://www.columbia.edu/itc/mealac/pritchett/00generallinks/sidialireis/txt_030_after.html txt_030_after ] ]

In some of the European books that were written during the 18th to the 20th centuries, most of today's Afghanistan was known as "Caboul" and its kingdom was called the "Kingdom of Caboul". In some periods Kabulistan had its own independent kingdoms; e.g. Kabul-Shahan who built a defensive wall around the Kabul city when the Arabs arrived at Khorasan.
