979fm

979fm (call sign: 3RIM) is a Melbourne, Australia community radio station run by 3RIM Incorporated. It broadcasts in the Western suburbs of Melbourne with key areas being Melton, Victoria and Rockbank.

The organisation was incorporated on 13 September, 1985 - making it one of the oldest community radio stations in Victoria. It has a thirty year history of being truly community rather than a mere alternative to commercial media.

3RIM was licenced in the same year as Mornington Peninsula's community radio station 3RPP.

The present styling of the radio station more reflects its operational and community area and is branded MELTON FM 97.9

The radio station is manned and operated fully by volunteers from all age groups, backgrounds and ethnicities. 979fm Studios are located in the grounds of Mowbray College, Centenery Avenue, Melton in the outer western suburbs of Melbourne.

Web Streaming

In mid 2005, the station began streaming on the internet via [http://www.979fm.net their website] around the world 24 hours a day. Most community and commercial stations in Melbourne and around Australia are now webstreaming or have plans to very shortly.
