Pat O'Brien is the guitarist for the death metal band Cannibal Corpse and live guitarist for black metal band Trelldom. He currently resides in Florida. He is the writer of some of the more complicated songs, including Hatchet to the Head, Systematic Elimination, Frantic Disembowlment and Blunt Force Castration. He features on the albums Gallery of Suicide, Bloodthirst, Gore Obsessed, Worm Infested, The Wretched Spawn and Kill.

He also played in Death/thrash metal band Ceremony for a while. He also played guitar for Nevermore from 1994 to 1996.

Pat O'Brien joined Cannibal Corpse in 1997 after recording The Politics of Ecstasy with Nevermore in 1996, replacing Rob Barrett on guitars. He has previously used BC Rich and occasionally Jackson Guitars. Now though, he currently plays Ran Guitars and has a signature model through them. He also uses Mesa Boogie Amplifiers, Crate Amplifiers, and EMG Pickups.

In an interview (Source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSQedB8y3dc), Pat stated that he likes playing death metal because it's "the most brutal kind of music there is to play," "a slap in the face to queer music," "the best kind of music there is." Also he said that in terms of guitar playing, it's "very challenging," "you make it as difficult as you want," and "it's pretty much just open territory." And he commented also that he play's Flying V's because "they're about as metal as you can get for a guitar."
