Paul Cook has represented California's 65th Assembly district since December 2006. Prior to his election he served as a member of the
Yucca Valley city council from 1998 until 2006. He is a Republican.Military career
An infantry officer in the US Marine Corps, Assemblyman Cook's military record spanned twenty-six years. His actions in combat earned him many honors, including the Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts. Based on his experiences, Assemblyman Cook later taught courses on political violence and terrorism at
University of California Riverside .The 65th District
The 65th district includes the cities of
Banning ,Beaumont ,Big Bear Lake ,Calimesa ,Cherry Valley ,Hemet ,Moreno Valley ,Perris ,San Jacinto ,Sun City ,Twentynine Palms ,Yucaipa ,Yucca Valley and other smaller communities and unincorporated areas inRiverside County andSan Bernardino County .Education
Assemblyman Cook is a graduate of
Southern Connecticut State University where he earned a bachelor of science in teaching. He holds a master's in political science fromUniversity of California Riverside and a master's in public administration fromCalifornia State University, San Bernardino .Personal
