Ligature Design Symposium

Ligature Design Symposium

The Ligature Design Symposium is an annual design symposium at the University of Florida.

Ligature is an annual juried Graphic Design show run by VOXgraphis. Ligature showcases graphic design at the University of Florida and is juried by recognized guest designers.

In February 2007 Ligature is in its sixteenth annual iteration. The event focuses on showcasing design works by University of Florida Graphic Design students and is traditionally held alongside UF's Juried Student Arts Show, a show that typically does not accept graphic design works. The highlight of Ligature at the University of Florida is that it is entirely run and organized by upper-division Graphic Design students in UF's graphic design club, VOXgraphis. Each year, members of VOXgraphis are elected into the usual club positions such as President, Vice President, Treasurer etc, and one of Ligature-Chair. The nominee is solely responsible for organizing the Ligature event using university student government funding as well as sponsor funding. Sponsorship varies from year to year and usually consists of companies local to Gainesville, Florida. In 2007 the AIGA Orlando chapter is sponsoring the event alongside and the University of Florida.

Ligature has traditionally been a concept-driven themed event, and the Chairman and volunteer team create a brand-identity from scratch for the show each year.Part of this identity is of course a website, previous examples of which can be found below.
