Harry Tufnell (1886 – 1959) was an English professional footballer He played for Bury and Barnsley prior to the First World war as an Inside Forward. Following the end of his playing career he managed and coached several clubs in the North of England.

Club career

] The game ended a 1-1 draw. Barnsley then lost the replay 2-0. In 1912 the first match ended in nil-nil draw and the replay looked to be going the same way when Tufnell scored in the last few minutes of extra time after a solo run from the half way line.Citation

When he retired from playing he stayed in the game, coaching first, Wakefield then Doncaster and finaly Oldham

Life Outside Football

Prior to starting his career in football he worked as greengrocers assistant [cite book |title=English Census Adolphus Tufnell Household RG13/2645 Entry 22|date=1901] and in the later part of his life he worked in a cotton mill.
